My work re-imagines the uses of green waste materials. If the purpose of art is to make the invisible visible then the purpose of my art is to make apparent the invisible beauty of ‘wasted’ natural materials. I want to challenge the notion of nature as separate and away from us, and through my work encourage people to reconsider their sense of what is used or useless. My installation work is ephemeral and photographed as part of the process of making and dissemination. My sculptural work is based on basketry techniques and references the tradition of hedgerow baskets and objects. I make for my own enjoyment, for exhibition and on commission.
